A Specialist Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist has completed advanced training and examinations conducted by the Australian College of Physiotherapy. This qualification demonstrates that the practitioner has attained the highest level of diagnostic and clinical skills within the physiotherapy profession resulting in Fellowship of the Australian College of Physiotherapists (FACP). This is the highest level of clinical qualification available in Australia.

ROLE

A Specialist Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist’s role is varied. The primary aim is to provide the best available sports and musculoskeletal injury management based on clinical experience and current medical research to help a person return to their desired level of activity. Additionally, a Specialist Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist’s advanced training enables them to provide an expert opinion for chronic injuries and complex cases that fail to respond to standard management. This expertise may extend to communicating with or providing reports to doctors, health professionals, coaches, insurers and legal practitioners, with advanced diagnostic and management plans.
