Sport and Exercise Medicine Physicians are recognised medical specialists in the practice of medicine as it applies to sport and physical activity. Sports Doctors have undertaken further training and research in the sports medicine field.

We can help you with a variety of issues including:

Acute severe injuries such as ankle sprains, ACL injuries, shoulder dislocation, fractures and severe tears of muscles and tendons requiring urgent diagnosis and management.

Exercise prescription in chronic disease: diabetes, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, obesity.

Adolescent sports injuries.

Bone stress injuries.

Complex & overuse musculoskeletal injury and pain.

Concussion.

Other medical conditions impacting sporting activity; overtraining, asthma, gastrointestinal problems and dietary issues including relative energy deficiency syndrome (RED-S).

The Physiosports Sports Medicine team work closely with referring GPs and referring allied health practitioners (including physiotherapists, osteopaths, chiropractors and massage therapists) as well as a wide range of other medical specialists, including orthopaedic surgeons and rheumatologists, to ensure optimal management and treatment outcomes for their patients.
