Physiosports New COVID Safety Approach

21.Oct.21 | Physiotherapy, Pilates, Podiatry

In the current Covid Climate we continue to be challenged by risk and changes. As a health care provider, the Physiosports Group has been forced to implement some new Covid safety approaches to the practice, for the safety of our staff and patients.

TO ATTEND A FACE-TO-FACE APPOINTMENT, YOU WILL REQUIRE FROM OCTOBER 18TH:

For persons 16 and over:

  • Evidence of first vaccination

OR

  • Evidence of a negative covid test and isolation in the previous 48 hours

For the entirety of this pandemic, The Physiosports Group has always strived to create the most safe and secure environment for both our staff and clients. In line with the DHHS mandate for health care workers, all our staff are vaccinated for COVID-19. We are proud to say that this level of vaccination had been achieved well before the government’s directive was announced. We believe, as health care workers, that it is important to be leaders in the community and support the push for highest level of vaccination.

We, as a group, understand that vaccination is the best way to create a safe environment against COVID-19, and as such protect our community. Therefore, as of the 18th of October all patients and accompanying persons over the age of 16, who are attending a face-to-face appointment, must provide proof of 1st dose vaccination. Although a large proportion of the local community will be fully vaccinated at this time, we understand that not all age groups have had the opportunity for this and so therefore a single dose vaccination will be sufficient. We ask that you bring evidence of your vaccination certificate to your appointment and our reception staff will then place a note on your confidential file about your vaccination status. This certificate can be found on your MyGov account and stored on your phone. After this time, you will not be asked again to produce this evidence.

Even with the governments massive push for vaccination, we understand that not all people wish to be vaccinated or declare their vaccination status. Therefore, in line with other medical practices, we will also be accepting a negative COVID test and isolation within the 48hours prior to appointment. This information will need to be shown during the check-in process at the clinic. Unfortunately, due to the highly infectious nature of this virus, a negative covid test will need to be provided for all subsequent appointments as well.

Telehealth appointments will still be available to all patients at the clinic. These appointments are not just relevant to people that do not wish to proceed with the above processes but are also a highly recommended option in the current climate. Although many people feel that the benefit of physiotherapy is lessened over a video consult, the reality of physiotherapy is that assessment, education and exercise are the most important aspects of care. All of which can be expertly conducted via telehealth (video) appointment. To read more about our Telehealth appointments click here.

We understand that these new processes may be inconvenient and quite different for most of us, but with the reality of living with COVID-19 it starts to become a necessity. Rapid antigen testing is an option being used in other countries, but for now this is not readily available in Australia. As the situation continues to evolve, we will adapt our policy in line with the most current health recommendations and what we feel is right.

Remember to wash your hands, keep your distance, wear a mask and don’t panic.

Together we will get through this.
Stay safe and well.
