Alison Murdoch Sports Physiotherapist
Ali is a very experienced APA TITLED EXERCISE AND SPORTS PHYSIOTHERAPIST who completed her Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University in 2012.
Ali enjoys working with athletes of all levels and has a keen interest in all sports, having previously worked with elite gymnasts at MLC Gymnastics club, Collegians Football club VAFA A-grade and in 2009 Ali was the Head Physiotherapist for the Australian Team at the Triathlon Age-group World Championships in Perth. Ali competed at the 2012 and 2013 World CrossFit Games in USA for Schwartz CrossFit Melbourne and continues to work with CrossFit athletes, not only to manage acute injuries, but to help correct any underlying abnormal movement patterns especially with respect to weightlifting and gymnastics skills.
Ali has a special interest in managing tendinopathy, in particular lower limb tendon injuries of the hip, knee and ankle. Ali really enjoys focusing on the mechanics of movement and injury prevention; teaching people to move properly and ensure they have the strength to prevent injury and recurrence. She wants people to get back to training as quickly as possible, even if their training needs to be modified, and believes in many cases, it’s very important for the athlete mentally and physically to be back in the gym working on movement patterns and strengthening, rather than rest.
Ali’s passion of educating and empowering women of the many physiological benefits of strength training, especially in the peri and post-menopausal stages of life, has led her to running Women’s only Strength and Conditioning classes in the Physiosports gym for the last 3 years.
